Talma Fastener was founded in 1964 by four men with over 50 years combined experience in cold heading. Initially, the automotive market was the principle market served. Following the passage of the 1967 Federal Automotive Safety Act, Talma Fastener was one of the first suppliers to the General Motors Corporation to be certified to produce safety items.
In 1968, Talma Fastener purchased Quality Fasteners of Kalamazoo, Michigan and moved the equipment to Talma, Indiana thus enlarging production capability.

On April 3, 1974, the Talma Fastener plant was totally destroyed by a series of devastating tornadoes crossing the Midwest. There were nine workers in the plant at the time the tornado hit, and not one person
